COFFEE AF1

We wanted the shoe to feel like coffee without drawing coffee all over it. So we started with the colour and the process.

THE STARTING POINT

THE PALETTE
CAME FIRST.

Coffee gave us three useful tones: the warm cream of the dyed leather, a lighter Flat White and a darker Americano. We worked from there.

DESIGN DECISIONS

FOUR DETAILS
MADE THE CUT.

The roasted-on date on one heel. The dye recipe on the other. A small coffee bean near the laces. A few contour lines on the Swoosh. That was enough.

THE MAKING

COFFEE FIRST.
PAINT AFTER.

We dyed the pair first, then painted the colour panels by hand. Brown laces went in at the end, followed by finishing and a final check.
